Beit

Beit is the second letter of the Hebrew alphabet. In this painting, the Beit is used to show blessing in the context of the "Shalom Bayit" (harmony in the home). Literally, the letter Beit means "house" and this is shown with the letter cradling a "Denver Square" (an architectural style of brick home). It also conveys Arel's having made peace with moving to Denver from Sante Fe, NM, a move which ultimately has been full of blessings for her family. The letter "Beit" alludes to the focal point of Holiness for a Jew, The Beit HaMikdas. We have potential to transform our homes into miniature sanctuaries of Holiness. The circular form in the painting symbolizes Creation, which began with a "Beit". A Giclee print of an original painting by Arel Mishory.
