Mizrach
Mizrach is the Hebrew word for "East" -- the direction all Jews face when praying. Jerusalem, the resting place of the Shechina (HaShem's Presence) is towards the East. When there is Shalom Bayit --h armony-- in the home, the Sheehina also comes to rest there. This is symbolized by the clasping hands -- a symbol often found on Ketubot (marriage contracts) of the past. The Lions of Yehuda depicted in the Mizrach are traditional symbols in Jewish art and illumination. They stand at the "Portals of Prayer". Behind them are branches of the Tree of Life. The phrase, "Mitzad Ze Ruach Chaim" on either side of the word "Mizrach", means, "from this direction comes the Spirit of Life" -- meaning that when we put our hearts and souls into our prayers, we come to recognize G-D, the Source of all Life. A giclee print of an original painting by Arel Mishory. The finished size is 8 x 10. The image size is 4" x 6".
